Cliradex Eyelid Wipes Review
This is where Cliradex comes in, they manufacture natural and preservative-free eyelid, eyelash and facial cleansers. Their cleansers are formulated with 4-Terpineol (T40). 4-Terpineol is the most active ingredient of Tea Tree Oil that treat.
Demodex. These eyelid wipes help relieve symptoms of dry eyes, blepharitis, Demodex, and itch, dry, inflamed eyelid & skin conditions.
Although Cliradex manufactures two different products, this review I am going to be focusing on the eyelid wipes. These eyelid wipes come individually packaged kind of similar to alcohol pads or hand towelettes.
What are Demodex Mites?
These microscopic mites are a natural part of the human ecological community of microorganisms that live within and on the human body. There are two species of Demodex mites that are commonly found on humans.
- Demodex Folliculorum – These mites are normally found in the hair follicles, usually on your face, but they are also found in the meibomian glands of the eyelids.
- Demodex Brevis – These mites are usually found in the oil glands of human hair follicles. They are closely related to Demodex Follculorum.
Having Demodex is common, and the majority of the time they do not cause any symptoms. It is when there is a large number of them may cause issues such as red skin, rough texture to the skin, and a burning sensation.
4-Terpineol (T40) the Main Ingredient in Cliradex
Cliradex’s eyelid wipes are designed to remove any Demodex mite infestations that may be causing eye irritation. These eyelid wipes are completely natural and without any harsh artificial chemicals.
Tea tree oil has always been the best treatment to use against Demodex, however, researchers took 13 of the known 15 ingredients in tea tree oil and tested its effectiveness against Demodex. In the study, they found that all of the ingredients they tested could kill Demodex to a certain extent, but they were all dose-dependent, except for 4-Terpineol (T40). 4-Terpineol is the most abundant ingredient in tea tree oil and was more potent than pure tea tree oil in similar concentrations, and its killing effect of Demodex was even more effective than that of pure tea tree oil.
Cliradex Eyelid Wipes
I recently decided to give Cliradex a try after a recommendation from my eye doctor to help with my dry eyes. I have been using the eyelid wipes once a day for the last two weeks and I can honestly say my eyes feel a lot better. I never had any build up on my eyelashes, but the skin on my face always felt rough, some days more than others, but the Cliradex wipes have reduced the rough feeling and made the skin on my face feel much softer.
One other situation that improved from using the eyelid wipes is that I normally get excessively dry and flaky skin underneath my eyebrows, and from using the Cliradex wipes my skin underneath my eyebrows is not as dry and flaky as it was before
How To Use Cliradex Eyelid Wipes
Using Cliradex’s eyelid wipe is very simple, each towelette comes individually packaged. To start off you would first make sure that you wash and dry your hands with a lint-free towel before opening the packet. You would open the packet, take out the towelette, and unfold it.
Next close your eyes, but do so without squinting your eyes and gently clean your first eyelid and the surrounding facial areas without getting it into your eyes, repeat for your other eye.
If you are using these wipes for the first time, according to the manufacturer you may feel a cool, refreshing, menthol feeling. But it is more like a cool, burning, menthol feeling. From the feedback that I received from my family members, it seems to affect everyone differently. Some people feel like it’s burning and some do not mind the feeling, but the more you use them the less of the burning feeling you are going to feel and more of the refreshing feeling. If the burning feel does not go away after a few minutes, or you have an allergic reaction, stop using the product and contact your doctor as soon as possible.
If after using them for a while and you feel like it is still burning too much, Cliradex also manufactures a light foam cleanser that is less harsh that you can find here.
If you are more of a visual person, take a look at this video provided by Cliradex on how to use their eyelid wipes.
How Much Does Cliradez Eyelid Wipes Cost?
Cliradex’s eyelid wipes can be quite pricey as they run about $42.99 for a box of 24 directly from Cliradex. You can find them on Amazon, but the price isn’t that much better. Amazon has a double pack for $84.99, which would mean you would save a dollar, but if you keep an eye out occasionally they will have promotional codes running where you can get a percentage off their products.
Directly from Cliradex, you can also find the 24 pack of eyelid wipes packaged up in a starter kit that includes two of their foam face cleansers as well. The starter pack is currently on sale and you could get the entire kit for $99.99 which would save you about $23 dollars if you were to buy the box and two foam cleansers individually.
